We love night trail running and we believe that LIGHT-BELT a great running light.

The problems with headlights: Headlights project a very narrow beam and/or have a center hot spot that creates a distracting bouncing light spot for most runners.  When headlights are used in rainy, foggy, or dusty conditions, light from the headlamp illuminates these particles and reflect back into eyes. Brighter is Better

A big benefit of a hyper bright light is that you can safely run through technical trails faster.  More light = better trail visibility = better safety and more running confidence.  If you can clearly see the trail, you can pick the safest lines and have more confidence to run faster.

For competitive runners safety and speed are critical for success.  The lower light position enhances the visibility of trail surfaces (pavement, dirt, mud, puddles, snow, ice, scree, gravel,  road hazards, and uneven pavement and obstacles such as: tree stumps, trenches, poo, etc.  Even though the days are getting shorter, you can train longer, run faster with more confidence with a LIGHT-BELT.

Battery and Integrated Charger

We tested a lot of different batteries and the best that we have found is the Panasonic NCR18650B 3.6V 3400 mAh.  This battery has protection circuitry which prevents damage from over charging or over draining. Panasonic 18650s are used in laptops and were used in Teslas before they went to larger cells. Because the Light-Belt battery is completely contained and the housing has an integrated micro-USB port, there is no need to ever remove the battery.  However, the battery can be easily replaced if necessary.  If you find a better battery please let us know!

Buckle

Some people think that our buckle is the coolest Light-Belt component.  In order to make the world's best action light every component must be the best.  In our opinion, Fidlock buckles are by far the most innovative and the best buckles made.  Fidlock buckles take the best features of mechanical locks and combine them with magnetic force, to revolution fasteners.  Simply place the buckle ends close to each other and the magnet securely couples the buckle so you don't have to struggle when time is critical.  The Fidlock buckle has a rated static breaking load of 40 kg / 88 lbs.

Why a belt? 

Headlamps worked, but there are drawbacks; 

    1)  blinding running partners with a simple head turn, 

    2) getting dizzy in when it rained due to the reflection from raindrops or fog,

    3)  “bouncing” light when running,

    4)  bugs flying in your face 

    5)  after a while they began to feel "heavy" on the head. 

We weren’t alone facing those issues.  So, we tackled all these issues head-on. We designed the light to be worn on the waist for several reasons:

    1)  you don't feel the weight of the light on your waist; 

    2)  you won’t blind your running partners,

    3)  you can see uneven terrain and small obstacles when light shines from a lower position - it creates more shadows.

Why is your belt so simple? 

Feedback from our users was they wanted something simple …a minimalist light weight light-belt with a brighter light with a long battery life that is easily rechargeable - nothing more…but nothing less!

Our elastic belt fits a range of waist sizes without using any extra material. This minimizes weight while maintaining a secure and comfortable fit for long runs.
